About me!
I am a professional recording engineer/producer located in Oakland, CA with a huge passion for making honest recordings with the artists I work with. I have over 10 years experience running sessions in commercial recording studios, with hundreds of hours of experience utilizing gear such as Neve and API recording consoles, Telefunken tube microphones, and multi-track tape machines. But while it’s nice to have access to fancy gear, I also care deeply about creating quality recordings no matter what the setup looks like. I got my start making scrappy alt-rock recordings in a basement in NJ, using inexpensive recording gear and instruments. No matter what you have at your disposal, you have the ability to make great recordings! As the cartoon version of George Harrison said, “It’s all in the mind.” I would be honored to work with you on your music at whatever capacity!

My Services
Record Production
You and I work together on your music from the ground up. We can work remotely or on location (I am currently located in Oakland, CA). I consider myself a caring curator of recorded music; I have the skills/finesse to put all the pieces together. However, the artist always has the final say to what the recorded arrangement will sound like. Don’t be nervous to talk budgeting, I am very flexible!
I take your recorded music track-by-track and balance the arrangement by volume/tone/depth. A great mix of your music helps to give your music sufficient and appropriate emotional impact. While mixing is a technical skill, it is very much an art in itself! And once again, the artist always has the final say. Mixing includes any necessary edits done to the performances. Pricing will vary based on the scope of your project.
Mastering is the final step in the recording process; to balance the volume/tone of your tracks to translate well across many mediums.

Performances
Working on your project by yourself but need some other instruments on your track? I got you covered! Since I started my music production career, I’ve tasked myself to be proficient in nearly every instrument you may hear on an alternative rock/folk/pop song. This includes guitars (electric and acoustic), bass, drums/percussion, keys, synth, and vocals. I am influenced by artists such as Nirvana, Death Cab for Cutie, Radiohead, R.E.M., Nine Inch Nails, Wilco, and Green Day to name a few. Once again, I am flexible with budgeting!
So maybe you want to try your hand at recording and mixing your own music, but you’re feeling stuck improving with your production skills. That’s where I can help! I have many years experience helping people get the best out of their own home recording setups through private lessons. Sure, YouTube tutorials can get you a decent amount of the way, but those videos cannot offer direct and personal feedback to your workflow. Together we can meet weekly or biweekly–remotely or in person–to work on unlocking your audio engineering potential! Like the other services, I work with your budget to see what works for both of us!
